The SPR polygonal rotary screen is a well proven solution for sieving shake-out green sand.
The SPR units are designed particularly for their use in foundry green sand preparation plants. The multiple range of creens covers plants with tonnages from 20-200 tons per hour.
The design of the equipment is not only suitable for new installations, but can easily be retro-fitted into older plants.
It has been our experience over the years that screens tend to be installed in the most inaccessible part of the sand plant, making inspection and maintenance difficult. Having this in mind, our unit design is not only for long life but also to overcome long term problems associated with condensation and sand sticking to the inside of the screen body.
The central rotating shaft with its basket structure is fixed to the shaft with steel bard which act as "spokes". The hood frame is mounted on a substantial support frame, ontwo which an access platform is also attached as required.
The end units are formed from a heavy frame attached to the base support frame which is then plated over to give the ends rigidity.
The shaft is mounted at both ends on self-aligning bearings which are lubricated automatically and driven by a directly connected motor gearbox drive unit. |

The plates are all cut to manageable sizes for easy removal being fixed to the structural frame with stainless steel bolts. Inspection access doors are provided on each side and these have interlock safety switches fitte. Along the base of the enclosing hood a series of adjustable air inlet ports are installed so that the air passing through the screen to the extraction system is controllable. In this way, the foundry technical department have the ability to control fines removal at the screen.
An air extraction spigot with internal air deflector baffles is installed on the top of the hood for connection to the dust collecting plant. The internal octagonal screen basket is constructed from angle frames, sub divided into manageable sizes onto which the replaceable "spring steel" wire screen panels are fitted.
As before, the assembly allows for rapid replacement of a damaged panel. |
